Audit Exempt

Due to the increase in the audit exemption thresholds many Irish companies are no longer obliged by law to carry out an annual audit of the company's financial statements.

It may however be in the interest of some companies to invest in an audit for the purposes of attracting investment from current and/or potential shareholders or for business lending purposes. Certain types of companies cannot avail of the audit exemption and as such are obliged to undertake an annual audit. These include companies limited by guarantee, charitable organistations, management companies and companies held through group structures.

Also companies who do not meet their annual filing obligations are obliged to have their financial statements audited.
